YKK (U.S.A.) Inc. Snap & Button Products is another company within the YKK North and Central America region that is focused on helping to protect the environment.   Located on approximately 90 acres in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, the company is a world-class supplier of metal notions with a customer list that includes major manufacturers of jeans, jackets, rental uniforms, tailored apparel, children’s wear, and casual wear throughout the world.  YKK (U.S.A.) Inc. Snap & Button Products has also diversified into industrial types of fastening systems for the safety, automotive, boat and military industries.  The company prides itself in having built long-term customer relationships based on an attitude of commitment, responsiveness, and flexibility.

YKK (U.S.A.) Inc. Snap & Button Products is proud of its various recycling/reuse activities within its manufacturing processes.  For example, used oils are recycled into hydraulic fluids, electronic waste is recycled for glass and heavy metal reclamation, waste paints and lacquers are recycled and mixed as high BTU content primary fuels for cement kilns, waste solvents are recovered on-site with a solvent recovery unit and used for paint clean up, plastic drums and containers are recycled for plastics re-manufacturing, cardboard  and white paper are recycled for cardboard and paper re-manufacturing, aluminum cans are collected and recycled for aluminum re-manufacturing, and all scrap metals (copper, brass, steel, etc.) are collected and sold back to our various suppliers for metals re-manufacturing.

In addition, YKK (U.S.A.) Inc. Snap & Button Products has developed a green elements finishing process. There are many different surface finishes including paint and electroplated finishes, which are available for the many different snap and button products. The eco-friendly process is one where less process steps are necessary, which reduces the lead time and cost of chemicals.  The chemicals used in this process are often cheaper, and some can be re-used, reducing the load on the company’s wastewater treatment system, electricity and water use.
