Alexandre Saade, assistant project manager at YKK Canada, is a member of Club Lions Laval Renaissance, an organization that raises money through volunteer activities to benefit people in the Laval community in Quebec, Canada.
Commenting on what he does for the Club Lions Laval Renaissance, Saade says, “I search for organizations in our community that are in need of help, and I organize volunteer activities with other members of the club to help these organizations.
“Some of our activities include serving food in local facilities within our community; decorating and maintaining centers for seniors; organizing Christmas events for children in our community, which involves bringing gifts for the children, doing small magic shows, and serving food. We also help organizations deliver food to families in need during the holiday season.
“As for the big picture, we organize events to raise money to help different causes within our community. Last year, we helped purchase a lumbar puncture bed for MCSA (McGill Centre for Studies in Aging). This year, we are raising money to help children with autism by providing them with therapy sessions with horses (Equitherapy), and we are raising money to help children with cancer.
“What made me decide to volunteer is my love and passion for helping people in my community. I enjoy helping them to be happy and comfortable even if it is for a short period of time. It gives me a feeling of fulfillment and satisfaction to see people happy, and all you have to do is give a little bit of your time.”
