Designing for Movement: Cyclosomatic Collection
YKK is proud to support emerging designers who are exploring innovative approaches to fashion and functionality. This spotlight features Noah Drew, a Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) graduate whose senior collection blends technical design, adaptability, and lifelong passion for movement and exploration.
Cyclosomatic
Growing up in New York City, Noah spent his time biking and skateboarding through the city, while also exploring the outdoors with his family. Those experiences continue to shape his design perspective, inspiring garments that transition seamlessly between urban environments and outdoor adventures.
“My perspective in fashion focuses on serving the lifestyle of my muse and their connection to the garments,” Noah shares. “All these pieces of my background synergize to create wardrobes that are equally at home on the street or trail.”
For his senior collection, Cyclosomatic, Noah drew inspiration from Italian Futurism and cycling culture. Designed for people who navigate city life by bicycle, the collection combines technical functionality with a strong visual identity.
“The collection is designed to evoke as well as facilitate movement,” he says. “The Futurism-inspired curves and overlapping pieces channel the feeling of freedom through movement, while the modular zip, magnet, and waterproof details provide the functions necessary for riding.”

Adaptability plays a central role throughout the collection, with YKK® zippers integrated into features that enhance mobility, comfort, and versatility. The components support Noah’s vision of apparel that performs across a range of environments and activities.
“The modularity that YKK® zippers provided brought unparalleled quality and ease of use to every garment,” Noah notes. “The sleek appearance of both the reverse coil and AquaGuard® zippers enhanced the collection’s technical aesthetic.”
Creating the collection challenged Noah to expand his technical skills, requiring extensive patternmaking, prototyping, and construction work as he brought each design from concept to completion.
“Successful ambition often requires being resourceful, especially as a student,” he reflects. “Each challenge I faced in creating this collection taught me more about technical clothing and its construction, enriching my education further.”
Throughout the process, YKK provided product knowledge and guidance that helped Noah confidently execute his ideas.
“My experience working with YKK was incredibly supportive and seamless,” he says. “Their education on the different kinds of zippers YKK offers and the specialty of each informed my design decisions and zipper choices.”
Inspired
by lifetime of cycling, exploration, and outdoor adventure, Cyclosomatic illustrates how thoughtful design can support the way people move through the world while remaining authentic to their lifestyle.
We look forward to seeing where Noah’s creativity, craftsmanship, and passion for functional design take him next.
