Fundamental Behavior 25 – Be positive
I think “Be Positive” is one of the most significant Fundamental Behaviors in the current circumstances.
Since the beginning of FY2020, this terrible virus keeps changing our business circumstances and our lifestyles. We can’t visit our customers like we used to and because of this, we can’t keep our style of “getting new business through customer visits.”
I wondered, “How can we start new business conversations without visiting customers?”
Also, our working environment has changed too, and we can’t have face-to-face discussions in order to make decisions.
I wondered, “How can we maintain internal communications without face-to-face meetings?”
But we all know that nobody can control these kinds of “external factors,” and we need to have techniques to adjust to them. On top of that, we also need to think about the possibility of these kinds of uncertain things and prepare for them every moment. In order to adjust to or prepare for such “external factors,” we should not insist on habits or current methods, but instead change ourselves.
Once we get used to something, people normally do not want to be disturbed and avoid any new challenge/change. Or we may be negative toward changes because we fear failure.
But let’s try to think together.
What will happen if we don’t change even though our circumstances have changed? Maybe times will move forward without us and finally we may disappear from the market…
Therefore, I think we should not be afraid to change ourselves and try to find the positive side no matter what conditions or circumstances we face. We can find the way only by doing this action, I believe.
No one has a crystal ball.
This means that if something happens to our business circumstances, nobody has the 100% certain answer. Then how can we raise the possibility of finding the right answer? I think it is to keep challenging yourself and try to think what we can do if we never give up. Once we determine the direction, we can take action toward that.
Sometimes we fail. But even so, we can study a lot of things from that and also can get the chance to try another idea…. It’s the famous PDCA cycle. I believe we can reach the right answer someday and not have serious damage even we failed if we run this PDCA cycle.
So let’s believe in ourselves, believe in our colleagues, believe in our company, and think positively/take action together without being negative. I think this will lead to making each of ourselves level up and grow our business. Then we can create healthy, win-win relationships between the company and employees.
That’s what I believe.
